What is your favorite movie that was released in the 1980s?
Ok, I was saving this for a Monday Morning Movie, but I guess it really needs to be here too.
I'll just have to pick another clip.
(original title: Vader Doles Out Some Smack-Down)
It's a hard choice for 80s movies but this has to be my favorite, and that's what they asked.
(Also the best SW film, hands down. It actually has....get this.....direction.)
DST sucks ass.
Big fat unwiped drippy ass with pimples and stuff.
Which, ahem, "internets" clichés do you wish would go away already?
ive realy had enuf of all teh misspelled words and lack of punctuation u read in blob posts i understand that when u r txting on a phone with a numbr pad it is easier to shortn wrds but when u have all teh time in teh world and a full keyboard to type out ur thoughts then it doesnt take all that much to use corect spelling and grmmar maybe even throw in a comma or 2 to make it all make sense 2 evry1 im sorry if this sounds arrogant but its just so stupid and pointless it actually takes me longer like twice as long to figure out how 2 misspell things than it would 2 do it rightlololololrotflmfaohahahahahaaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
kthxbye
Which book would you love to see adapted into a film?
I've said this before. I think Devil in the White City would make an awesome film, if done well. Set against the backdrop of the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, Erik Larson masterfully weaves together two storylines, one of the country's most prominent architects and designers who assemble to design the neoclassical exhibit buildings of the fairgrounds, and the other of one of the most nefarious and prolific serial killers our country has ever known, H.H. Holmes, a charming sociopath who opened a hotel in the burgeoning city for the purpose of drawing in victims. It's a historical narrative, about the contrast of creation and destruction, the best of the human spirit versus the worst horrors of depravity.
It even has a photo plate section. For authenticity. ^__^
Note: according to Wikipedia, a film is slated for production although details are not nailed down. But it looks like this may actually happen. Now as long as it doesn't suck....
I'd really love to see some stylized turn-of-the-century filmmaking techniques used here, similar to what Coppola did in Dracula or how The Illusionist used projector-style camera effects. I'd like that. :)
What would you name your first, or next child? (Girl or boy.)
Obadiah.
Rasterfeld.
Multimodo.
Ursa. (Goes well with the last name.)
M.C.
Rutherford.
The Skooch.
Bêlit.
Ergo.
Loinfruit. (Yes Austin, there CAN be more than one.)
Jennifer.
What ever happened to Jennifer? There used to be lots of Jennifers. I liked a few Jennifers. I'm not even referencing that stupid ad banner. I mean it. Is Jennifer our generation's Carol? Become like our grandmother's Edith? The new JoAnn? Those were popular too once. Baby Carol. It doesn't seem very fun to us now, but not too long ago it inspired coos and cheek-pinches. Aw. And years later, prom dates and engagements, and then baby Jennifers.
Now we have Emmas and Madisons, Abbies and Ethans and Williams (not Billy or Bill or Willy but Will-YAM dammit) and Zacharies and Tylers and Kaylas loving Calebs. And Dylans getting jealous over it.
Luckily Haley is there for the rebound.
What happened to Jennifer in all this? And Amy? And John and Steve and Mike and Jeff? (Well Steve came out and moved to Dallas. With Gary and Matt. But that's another post.) I wonder if Julie knows. If she does, she didn't tell Kerrie. Or Kerri. Or Kerry.
But Christine knows.
Luckily her son Tucker's too little to blab yet.
What is your favorite scent or smell and why?

Apparently the writer's strike has reached the halls of Vox as well. This is a rerun too.
Here's my answer then. Still applies.
Let me add: the smell of the glue binding a new issue of National Geographic. A camp-fire. Cake.
What old wives’ tale have you discovered to be totally untrue?

I have yet to go blind.
What was your major or field of study in college? Did you wind up working in that field or using that degree? If not, what field have you wound up in?

I remember my printmaking professor stating once that more of his fellow students at his graduate school ended up as hotel managers than artists. I thought it was funny then, back when I was an Almighty & All-Knowing Art Student. Now I see how stuff like that happens.
At least I'm in the creative field.
I got a BFA in Painting and Printmaking, focus on the latter. I took one graphic course as a senior, and here ten years later I'm an ad hoc graphic designer. I had little regard for the GD students in college. Little did I know that that's where the paychecks come from in the art world.
Thank god for that.
So all you college kids....careful who you have contempt for, you may just become that which you despise. Adapt or die. :P

Which are your favorite sites for shopping online?
I don't do a ton of online shopping, since there's a lot of stores around me to shop at, but when I do I always go through the Ebates.com portal first to see if what I want is available on a site that's giving a percentage back through them. It's especially good for big-ticket stuff.
I got $55 back on my iMac purchase, for example. Not bad for doing nothin'.
(The above link is to a referral page....if you sign up and buy something through that link by Dec. 31 you'll get $10 put into your account.)
I've been using it for years...I've gotten almost $400 back so far. It's a nice treat and makes my cold, miserly heart beat a little faster.
