i didn't watch the clip -- but that's b/c i know the movie by heart. i LOVE that movie! it's absolutely one of the best films ever, in my opinion, and i love that you think so too.

p.s. a friend of mine actually went to zihuatenejo (sp?) for his honeymoon.

I concur. I loved that film too.
I have found that there are two kinds of people....those who love this film, and those who have never seen it. (Yes, some people have never seen it.) I usually get all evangelical with the latter, and bus them back to my place for a free viewing.

I do my part.
Sorry to say, you can place me in the third group of people - those who have seen the movie and wonder just what the fuss is all about. I am still stunned that IMDB voters have it as the #2 movie of all time. It was okay but nothing I'd want to see again.

......

***blasphemy!***
I love this movie. To me it is one of the few movies I can watch over and over again. I cant really explain to those who dont get it. Well Morgan Freeman for one. I just love that man. The story is great. The friendship. Ha ha I don't know I just like it!

A friend of mine bought me this a while back. I'd never seen it before. I loved it.
I love everything about this movie. The story, the characters, the cinematography, the score.....it's one of those films in which everything comes together at the perfect sweet spot to make a fantastic film. The camerawork is excellent, if you pay attention to it. It doesn't force you to, but the wonderful tracking and panning shots move you through every scene in such a wonderfully narrative way. Like Freeman's voiceovers, the camerawork is another well-used storytelling device here.

It's a beautiful film, even though the subject matter is somewhat less so.
I love this movie. It's awesome. I felt bad for the man who gets out of prison and can't adjust.

Fantastic flick.
I *heart * Morgan Freeman -- and the way this is shot makes it seem like a story abouve stories, a fable.......superb.

The first time I saw Shawshank Redemption, I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now. The pacing is so unhurried, that it's an anomaly among films of the past 20 years. It's not boring, certainly, but it doesn't barrel toward its conclusion. It's in my all time top ten. Good taste, J.
Thanks. This very well be my favorite movie, if I take all of its good things into full account. Definitely makes the top 3.
This was the number one video rental for years, may still be. All time great flick!
