What a lovely shot. Shame to think her house is on fire and her children will burn. (As a kid, I always thought that was such a lousy little chant.)

I'm not a bug person but I LOVE ladybirds. What a great pic.

Beautiful picture. How exactly do you tell the difference between a male and a female lady bug?
I never heard of it, but this is what I found online:

Ladybird, ladybird, fly away home
Your house is on fire and your children are gone
All except one, and that's Little Anne
For she has crept under the warming pan.

Gruesome. Poor Anne.
You never heard that before!? It was so common when I was young, that shocks me. Yeah, it's a very Gorey-esque poem. :) I'd always heard it, "Your children will burn, all except..." Even worse, to my mind.
I only heard the first two lines of that- I still think it whenever I see a ladybug and STILL feel bad for them...............poor little things. I wonder if they have insurance.

warming pan! wow -- that's from the 1800's isn't it?
Apparently so is Kirk. :D
Oh, did you think the term "Kirkensian" was just a clever jape? Not so, my boy. I'm actually 140 years old.
Hoorah!! Finally, someone older than I.
Ah the benefits of the sea air. Pickles the cells just right.

Nice, is it with 18-200VR? :)
No, it's with a 50mm 1.8 lens with a x3 magnifier attached. There's a little distortion on the edges from the magnifier, so I'm not in love with the filter, but it does allow me to get pretty close with a non-macro lens. It's good for a treat. :)
