Entertainment QotD: Favorite 80's Movie

Comments

Yeah, no doubt about it, pretty much the only "adult" SW film. The first one had a certain adventurous charm, but this one gave me high hopes for the series, only to be dashed on an ewok in the third one.

I agree! This one was good! Hooray for that, anyway! ;)

And the fourth. And fifth. And sith.

I don't want to start a Lucas-you-are-a-dream-wrecking-dweeb rant here, buuuut.......Lucas you are a dream-wrecking dweeb. Thanks for the memories.
LOL at the sith.
Thatth quite hilariouth!!!

Not that you wanted to know this, but I was pregnant for the first time and my son kicked me the first time really hard during The Empire Strikes Back. I wasn't paying attention to the rest of the movie after that!!!
You know who's the real hero of this movie? No, not Han or Luke or Lando "Colt 45" Calrissian. Not even Lucas or Williams. It's the sound guys. The foley and special effects artists whose job it was to make something filmed in a warehouse somewhere on painted wooden platforms sound like a metallic catwalk in the middle of a gigantic wind tunnel, with make-believe laser swords clashing around in it. And all the other neat effects found in this film. The new movies are all digital effects....they're slick and clean and....digital. This movie's sounds are raw, industrial, metallic and...dangerous. Those are the guys who made it real. (Them and the lighting directors.) Yeah.

Ok, geeky rant over. As you were.
[this is good]

Agreed that it is hands-down the best of the SW movies.

Though one could argue, that from a strict interpretation of the calendar -- that the 80s did not officially begin until 1980, in the same way that the 21st century didn't begin until 1/1/2001. That would then make "Empire" the best movie of the 1970s -- unless, of course, you prefer "Jaws".

I meant the 80s didn't begin until 1981. Not enough coffee yet.
