Eat more chocolate!
This is for Momma Jay.
We all know that dark chocolate is good for you. Not as fattening, got lots of antioxidants and stuff. They sell bars of the high-percentage kind in health food stores and those places where all the gym rats go to get their muscle drinks. I guess there's a kind of process that makes unique super-high antioxidant chocolate, and one company has bought the rights to this patented process and is selling it through independent sales agents all over the country.
My mom is selling this chocolate now.
It's called Xoçai, and it's based on an old-world Mayan chocolate processing method that preserves all the good stuff that comes from the cacao beans, without destroying it by processing it the European "Dutch" way or by adding milks and sugars to it. It has incredibly high ORAC counts - that's the FDA's measurement of antioxidants - way more than a lot of fruits and veggies have, and I guess you only have to eat a couple of nuggets of these things a day to wash your system in chocolate goodness.
Now my mom has always been - seriously - a person who tires easily. Low iron counts and all that, and there's really nothing she's ever been able to do about it. Even when I go visit her it's hit or miss whether she'll be able to bop around all day or end up wiped out at home. She's only in her early 50s, and this has been how she is since I can remember. That's just mom. Well she got on these things (mostly because she figured hey, it's chocolate, so it can't be all that bad even if it doesn't do anything for me) and since then she swears that she's got bunches more energy (she tells me it's not the caffeine either....first thing I said :P), feels great, gets up in the morning a lot easier (she's a grumpy morning bear like I am) and, best of all, has a lot less migraines than she used to. Those always knocked her out bad. It's been a few months now and she still says the Xoçai helps her out a lot. That's a record....she usually drops a fad after this long if it's not doing anything.
So she decided to sign up to sell the stuff herself, via her online page. She had gotten a few sales, and has even signed on her doctor to help push the stuff in his office. She says he's totally into it, if only for the cholesterol-lowering benefits of the pure cocoa. She asked me if I knew anyone who would be interested, and so I'm showing it to a few of my health-conscious friends with somewhat disposable incomes, and I figured I'd put it on my blob too.
Hey, it's chocolate. However you look at it, that's got to count for something. ^__^
Here's a short clip about the health benefits of Xoçai, and antioxidants, and flavonoids....ooooh......
There's more info on the site too. Plus they make bars, and liquid drinks, and cookies.....I need to try the cookies.
If you're interested, check it out and send her a sitemail if you have any questions. Let her know you saw it on my blog, so she knows I'm really helping out like I said I would. :P Or forward this to someone you think may be interested.
I do try to be the Good Son, now and then.

this looks totally cool! right up my alley. and i feel for your mom on the fatigue front ... it's brutal to be exhausted all the time. i'm sure she's been checked out by all the physicians she can come up with -- i hope she keeps feeling better.
i'm going to check out the choco right now!
Could there be anything BAD about chocolate? I say no. Nothing.
I'll have to wait until fall/winter to order this. Chocolate and mail delivery don't mix in Phoenix this time of the year. Or they do mix, and it gets reallly ugly.
If anyone's REALLY interested I can see if I can get some samples or something.
you're buying a bulk pack of these items. It's not one, two bars, it's a box of them.
You say that like it's a bad thing. Don't true chocoholics already buy in bulk?
I thank you and your mom VERY much for this information! I swear I am so fatigued the last few months I can barely move, and I know a lot of it has to do with dropping estrogen levels. Your mom and I are the same age.
I am SO going to check this out!!!!
You and your mom are aDORable!!!
Better than the usual bag of jelly beans anyway.
Chocolat sec. ^__~
Thanks for sharing healthy food.
Well I can't get my hands on these for now, but YAY for the benefits of chocolate. (And nice pic of you & Mom, too.)
I fear she may be eating her profits.
And the product! :)
"I have some exciting news to tell you about my chocolate. The top cardiologists in the country have been doing trial studies for the past year and the results will probably be publicly known in June. So far, it is very favorable for its health benefits with heart disease, stroke and other issues. Doctors are comparing it as being the biggest thing since penicillin and anesthesia. That's a big WOW." That's the email she sent me.
She says Oprah is getting on board the Xocai bus. Which should be the golden touch for them. She's very excited about that.
I asked her today about the taste of this stuff. She says it's sweet because of the acai extract they add to it, and the blueberry extracts. It has no added oils, creams, milks or waxes, so it leaves no residue in your mouth. It's the only chocolate she eats now.
I said that Target has a whole aisle now of dark chocolates by Lindt, Ghiradelli, Dove and a host of smaller organic manufacturers. She said that their chocolates don't have the same antioxidant quantity, because they remove the bitter outer coating of the beans in the chocolate they use and that has all the good stuff, plus they don't add acai. Xocai puts the antioxidants back in after removing the bitter coatings, so nothing is lost but the taste is sweet. Ok.
I will have to check this out for sure.
My stupid intranets have been wacky lately and I haven't been around enough! Poop!!!
If anyone is particularly interested, like I said, she may be open to sending some samples out. It's a little hard because she's in Florida and you may end up with a box of chocolate soup instead. Still rich in antioxidants, but harder to snack on. :P
